Hi boys and girls. We were due to start another world cruise on December 29, 2008. Sorry, but no blog and no cruise this year.
For a couple of years I had been taking medication for a month or two at a time for CLL. Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. Shortly after going to Northbrook, last Summer, I became very weak. It was attributed to the medication I was taking. The doctors said it should never be given for my condition.
Upon returning to Miami this fall I started to see a well thought of doctor / professor. His opinion was the same until December 3, 2008.
I had been slowly improving when suddenly I got worse again. On December 5, 2008 I went to the hospital for a bone marrow biopsy. On December 9, 2008 the lab results came in. The CLL had taken a different form that does not show up in a blood test.
I am going to have go into the hospital, for chemo therapy, 3 days every month for the next 4 to 6 months.
I do have insurance for the cruise but it may be a problem to collect. The insurance does not cover pre existing conditions. Even though the form of my disease has changed to a whole different thing, the general name has not. I have heard they use any possible thing they can to try to wiggle out of honoring their obligations.
Regent Cruise Line is holding the same suite for us for the 2010 world cruise. Once I get done with the insurance company, they say they will see what they can do for us.
